If you have a health concern and want the Canaan FAST ambulance service to be aware of it, contact Orange Emergency Management Director Doug Weekes at (603) 523-9535. You can also call the Canaan Town Administrator at (603) 523-4501. Let them know If you use a medical device or supplemental oxygen that requires electricity.

CANAAN TRASH FACILITY HOURS
Sunday: Center Closed, Monday: Center Closed, Tuesday: 2 p.m.-6 p.m., Wednesday: 7 a.m.-11 a.m., Thursday: 2 p.m.-6 p.m., Friday: 7 a.m.-11 a.m., Saturday: 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
The Transfer Station is closed on the following holidays: New Years Day, Independence Day, the Saturday before Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
Burning Brush: permits are required
Please contact the fire warden or a fire warden deputy for a permit or for more information. (See the directory above.) If a burn permit is not required during snow cover, please inform Hanover Dispatch of your burn: (603) 643-2222.
BUILDING PERMITS & DRIVEWAY PERMITS
A permit issued by the Board of Selectmen shall be required before beginning operations of placement of foundations, alterations, removal, demolition, or placement on a lot of a building or structure, including manufactured housing. A permit issued by the New Hampshire State Highway Department shall be required before beginning any excavation or construction of a driveway or private road to be built off of a state highway. A permit issued by the Town of Orange Road Agent shall be required before beginning any excavation or construction of a driveway or private road to be built off of a town road. The applicant shall properly install all culverts required by the Town or State to the specifications set forth in the permit. (Section VI, Town of Orange Building Ordinance). Download forms here.
